Mother's Day Recipe - Apple Bouquet Pie

On Mother's Day, the challenge is always great. How to repay all the love and care to the one who gives it without expecting anything in return? Hugo that works for the R&D department at Aveleda, knew that he wanted to surprise his mother with something simple, sweet and special. So he asked Clavel's Kitchen for help, which in turn created this delicious Bouquet Apple Pie. A very special dessert, perfect to pair with Aveleda Loureiro. Prepare a deliciously tender moment of sweetness to the most special mother in the world.

INGREDIENTS
FOR THE APPLE FLOWERS
  • 2 red apples 
  • Hibiscus tea  
 
FOR THE CAKE
  • For the cake 
  • 100g of sugar 
  • 70g of butter 
  • 180g of flour 
  • 1 tablespoon of milk 
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder 
  • 2 eggs 
 
PREPARATION
Pre-heat the oven to 180 ºC. Make the tea and leave the infusion to get stronger colors and aromas. Cut the apple in thin slices and leave them to soak on the infusion until they’re soft and gain color. Put aside. In a bowl, mix the sugar with the butter until you have a creamy dough. Add the milk, the eggs and finally the flour with the baking powder. Spread butter onto a rectangular baking tray and pour the mix. Put aside. In the meantime, build the apple flowers. On a flat surface or plate, put 4 slices of apple with 1cm space between them and roll the slices into tight spirals until they form the shape of a rose. Put the first flower on the centre of the pie and distribute the other flowers around that first one in the centre until the whole surface of the pie is covered. Bake the cake for 20/25 minutes. After letting it cool, take the cake out of the baking tray and style it with peppermint leaves.
